Jim English Guitars
Have you seen an English Guitar lately?
Have you heard one? No, the guitars are not from England, they
are made in the U.S.A. by Jim English. And if you haven't heard
or held one in your hands, you are missing something. These guitars
have the feel and response of the early 50's and 60's models.
They are made one at a time, by order. This means you don't have
to take what someone thought you might like but instead, you choose
all the things which you need to make it play and sound like YOU
want. This is a guitar built for YOU. The basic guitar has a 17"
lower bout and a single cutaway and 'F ' Holes that are standard,
but from there, almost anything can be done. Different scale lengths,
different fretboard radius, number of frets, width and thickness
of the neck, etc..
I have spent a lot of time being dissapointed at what is being
offered to the average musician today and for what price. After
49 years of experience with guitars and music in general, I decided
to do something about it. So I began building guitars in 1993.
My guitars have a 'feel' to them that is warm and friendly. There
are no super heavy finishes that choke the movement and sound.
As far as electronics is concerned, I use pickups made by the
best in the industry. There again, you have many choices. I can
supply the sound you want, coupled with a guitar like the early
ones. The sound came from the COMBINATION of construction AND
pickups. I can give you a Filtertron that sounds like a Gibson
with either a Gibson style mount or a Filtertron mount. Also,
I can give you a Gibson pickup that sounds like the EARLY Filtertrons.
The early Filtertrons are the ones, in combination with the guitar,
that produced the sound that everyone loved. These will make you
sound like Chet Atkins, Duane Eddy, Brian Setzer or many others.
With all the combinations available, you can have the guitar of
your dreams. A guitar that fits you because you decided what it
should be. Please feel free to write or call me for further information.
Or just to talk about music, guitars, and whatever.
